Episode 21 - Kirsty McGregor (part 1)

Today we are going down under in part 1 of a 2 hour international edition where we talk with Casting Director, and president of the casting guild of Australia, Kirsty McGregor. Because most of our audience is US based, Kirsty has graciously given a bit of a breakdown of how the business of casting and agents work in Australia, and boy do we have some great recommendations of things to watch.

Kirsty cast movies like 2016’s beautiful award magnet Lion, 2010’s Animal Kingdom, 2014’s the Rover, the TV series Top of the Lake and 2019’s Bad Mothers as well as dozens of other projects. 

Episode 20 - Jane Jenkins

Today we’re excited to sit down with Jane Jenkins. She’s a delight, both to talk to and listen to, and it’s probably safe to say that she’s had a hand in casting at least one of your favorite nostalgic movies in her incredible career. Her early career working at Zoetrope lead to collaboration’s like that of her and her partner at The Casting Company Janet Hirshenson. Jane worked on movies like The Princess Bride, A Beautiful Mind, Beetlejuice, Dune, Apollo 13, Mrs. Doubtfire, Ghost, Hook, Ferris Beuller’s Day Off, Labyrinth, Willow, and a whole lot more.

Episode 19 - Sara Isaacson

Today we chat with Sara Isaacson. Sara is enthusiastic, energetic, assertive, and earnest-- and talking with her was such a treat. She offers a great look into the world of getting a job in casting, moving up the ranks of assistant to associate to casting director, and what actors need to do to be ready for auditions. Sara’s projects include Fringe, Bates Motel, Law and Order True Crime: The Menendez Murders, Midnight Texas, Scream the series, the Mentalist, and more.

She talks taste, keeping up with evolving technology, and how she finds the perfect ‘real’ people to create Cinderella stories, taking fresh talent from first audition to well known actors.

Episode 17 - Lisa London

Today we sit down with Casting Director Lisa London. Lisa is an enthusiastic advocate for actors, and it’s no wonder with her upbringing as a Hollywood local and industry native.

Lisa has worked on several of Adam Sandler and his company Happy Madison’s movies, including Grandma’s Boy, Sandy Wexler, and House Bunny, as well as several shows that either you or your kids will be familiar with- from Hannah Montana to The Suite Life of Zach and Cody to Supah Ninjas.

Episode 16 - Jeremy Gordon

Today we’re going to be talking with Jeremy Gordon. Jeremy is one hard working casting director who has worked on big shows and movies, like Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, Shock and Awe, LBJ, We Bought a Zoo, V, The Last Airbender, and he has also worked on some fantastic indie features, such as Obscure, Rust Creek, Twisted Blues, and Spork.
